5. Summer Streets, Cliffe Park, Seaburn, July 9
Summer Streets, the annual free festival of music, street performers and arts and crafts, will be back with a bang this year when it returns to Cliffe Park in Seaburn on July 9. There will be three performance stages, a mix of musical genres and plenty of activities, workshops and food stalls for families to enjoy. Entertainment includes Patrick Ziza who brings his Dandyism Dance troupe, Uncaged Aerial the all-women aerial theatre company, a Time Machine Disco from Glass House Disco and Space Camp, a “brilliant immersive experience that takes audiences into space”, with more acts to be announced. 6. Kubix Weekend of rock and indie, Herrington Country Park, July 15 & 16
The second instalment of Kubix will see a weekend of rock, indie and more take over Herrington Country Park on July 15 and 16 with performances from UB40, Shed Seven, Happy Mondays, Stiff Little Fingers, Lightning Seeds, Ash, Reef and more. 7. The Bowie Experience, Independent, Holmeside, August 20
Since 1997 Laurence Knight has been touring the UK, Europe, UAE, and Australia with his tribute to David Bowie, The Bowie Experience. From Brisbane to Dubai to The Indigo O2 London, Laurence’s Bowie Experience is the only David Bowie tribute in the world that was regularly featured on David Bowie’s own web site when he was alive. 8. Rock of Ages, Sunderland Empire, September 6-10
The producers of Rock of Ages have announced full casting and new dates for the UK and Ireland tour, including the return of Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy as Dennis Dupree, a role he previously played to huge acclaim in 2018. Kevin joins the previously announced X Factor winner and musical theatre star Matt Terry as Stacee Jaxx in the show which runs from Tuesday 6 September 2022 at Sunderland Empire. Photo: submitted
