Spas are back open and there’s plenty of great ones in the North East to take the plunge.
If you fancy a spot of rest and relaxation, we’ve rounded up some of the best spas in the region. Note,that while many of the facilities and treatments are available as we ease out of lockdown, facial treatments will not resume until at least August 15.
1. Walwick Hall Hotel, Humshaugh, Hexham, Northumberland
For a spa with striking views of the Tyne Valley, try Walwick Hall Hotel. The spa is open to both residents and non-residents and although therapists are unable to offer facial treatments at this time, there's a full list of relaxing body treatments and therapies. Photo: submitted
2. Ramside Spa, Carrville, County Durham
One of the largest, and most popular spas, in the region, Ramside Spa has a number of different indoor and outdoor areas to explore, If you're feeling extra indulgent, you can hire the infinity pool room, pictured. 3. Rockliffe Hall, Hurworth on Tees, Darlington
For true five star luxury take the plunge at Rockliffe Hall. For now, to enable social distancing and enhanced hygiene practices, you can book a 2 hour session in the spa during your stay, which will include a 30 minute swim in the main pool. Guests can also book a 2 hour experience in the Spa Garden as part of their visit. While most of the spa is already open, the poolside heat treatment rooms, as well as the sauna in the Spa Garden and the Mud Rasul, will reopen on August 15. Photo: submitted
4. Wynyard Hall, Tees Valley
Wynyard Hall is one of the most peaceful spas around, with views overlooking the hotel's sprawling grounds. The spa is currently open Wednesday to Sunday and is unable to offer facial treatments for now. Photo: submitted
