Contestants announced for this year's Great British Bake Off - including one from Durham

Loriea, 27, a diagnostic radiographer from Durham, has been announced as one of the participants on this year’s series of the Channel 4 show, which starts on Tuesday, September 22.

Hosted by comedians Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding, the fan favourite programme will see 2020’s 12 bakers compete in a range of challenges each week to be judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

And Loriea is one of the 12 contestants in the run to take the baking crown!

Born and raised in Jamaica, Loriea uses baking as a means to celebrate her Caribbean roots. She was taught how to bake as a five-year-old by her grandmother.

Loriea loves to include coconut, chillies and cinnamon in her food – and rarely follows a recipe exactly.

This year’s series was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but producers have promised fans the show will look the same as it usually does.
