THE Bodyguard is proving such a hit with North East audiences that it will return to the region next year.

The musical, based on the hit 1992 film, is playing at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal but will head to Sunderland for a two-week run next March.

Starring Alexandra Burke, pictured right, in the role made famous by Whitney Houston, it’s been playing to packed houses on tour.

Tickets are not yet on sale for the Sunderland leg of the tour, which runs from March 1 to 12, and it’s not been announced who will play the roles of Rachel Marron and Frank Farmer, but it’s a date to keep in the diary.

Music featured in the show is a mix of Bodyguard songs from the film and classic Whitney hits including: I Will Always Love You, Greatest Love of All, Saving All My Love For You, One Moment In Time, Where Do Broken Hearts Go and I Have Nothing
