RELIVE the glory days of SAFC’S FA Cup victory on the anniversary of the momentous match.
On May 5, 42 years to the day since the Black Cats beat Leeds, players from the original side will give a talk on the sporting event.
Jimmy Montgomery, Micky Horswill and Dick Malone will give their own recollections of the most memorable game in SAFC’s history and answer questions about all things red and white at the Customs House in South Shields.
Customs House executive director Ray Spencer said: “We’re looking forward to having some genuine living legends at The Customs House next month.
“Football fans up and down the country know just how important a win like that is – not just the game but being the underdogs and coming out on top when it really matters. It’s a sentiment that I’m sure was felt this weekend too.
“Come along and bask in the company of three men who were lucky enough to truly live the ultimate glory day in Sunderland Football Club’s history.
“It is sure to be full of interesting stories, their own personal moments from the game of games and some frank opinions. Not to be missed by any Black Cat.”
l Tickets for The Heroes of 73 at Customs House on May 5 are £10, or £15 for a VIP ticket, which includes a meet and greet and picture opportunity, and are available from Tel. 454 1234 or at www.customshouse.co.uk.
