A THEATRE group has found itself under the spotlight after it was nominated for an award.
Starset Theatre, which is based in Boldon, has been nominated for a What’s On Where title by a string of people who praised the organisation for its fantastic productions, professional approach, and excellent entertainment.
Director Elissa Hudson, said: “We are thrilled to be nominated. We have been producing shows in the area for 15 years and to get this kind of recognition from our audiences is just fantastic.”
Starset Theatre is South Tyneside’s longest-running performing arts group for children and young people.
Elissa said more great productions were on the way with Hairspray to be performed at the Customs House in South Shields, and Disney’s Aladdin planned at the Boldon Theatre, in Boldon School.
Starset was set up in 2000 and has held classes in areas including Sunderland, Washington and Durham, as well as South Tyneside.
Nominations praised the theatre group for its recent production of Les Miserables.
One read: “It was a great experience and was exceptionally amazing.”
Another said: “I felt like I was in the West End, it was so professionally done.”
A third said: “Starset Theatre is definitely an experience that is magically unforgettable.”
