JOSEPH is a colourful explosion of song and dance.

The biblical tale of Jacob and his dozen sons has come to the Sunderland Empire.

Keith Jack stars as Joseph, who is duped by his jealous brothers and sold as a slave.

But the dreamer’s luck is turned around when his knack for interpreting dreams comes in handy.

Jack, runner-up in TV talent search show Any Dream Will Do, is fantastic in the leading role, tackling each of the big songs with gusto. Lauren Ingram was brilliant as the narrator, and the brothers were hilarious as they plotted and schemed against Joseph. The talented cast demonstrated impressive choreography, and the Joseph Choir, made up of kids from Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Newcastle and Sunderland, did a great job of providing the backing vocals.

Songs like Jacob and Sons, Go, Go, Go, Joseph, and Song of the King, had the audience bopping along, and the likes of One More Angel in Heaven and Those Canaan Days gave the brothers a chance to shine.

It’s a fantastic show that’s fun for all the family.

It runs until Saturday.
