A FAST-MOVING dark comedy about relationships comes to Arts Centre Washington on June 27 as part of a regional tour.
Farne’s production’s present the play by award-winning Whitley Bay writer Dick Curran, which stars three well-known local actors: Neil Armstrong, Jill Dellow and Dylan Mortimer.
The action revolves around Ross – the rising star at work who has just been dumped by his wife. Colleague Mike invites him round, hoping to help his career by offering Ross a shoulder to cry on and some company, but not all goes to plan. In fact nothing goes to plan.
Jill Dellow, a familiar face not just from theatre but from a number of TV appearances, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to work together on a new, exciting and really funny piece of drama.”
The play is playing venues from Sunderland to Berwick in this re- worked version after its sell-out run as a Cloud Nine Production at the Low Lights in North Shields last year. The tour will be taking in venues such as Arts Centre Washington, Live Theatre, The Customs House, and The Maltings in Berwick along with emerging venues such as Infinity, Sunderland.
Dick, from Whitley Bay, said: “We want to build an audience for accessible but quality, entertaining theatre. With Arts Council backing and the support of local theatres, we have a fantastic opportunity to do just that at a wide range of venues throughout the region.”
Dick’s previous plays include Islanders which won the Manchester Evening News Best Fringe Production.
Tickets for the Arts Centre Washington date are £7.50 (£5 concessions) and are available from www.artscentrewashington.co.uk or tel. 219 3455. Prices for other dates range from £8 to £5.
