THE international smash-hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert will play Newcastle Theatre Royal next year – with Jason Donovan at the helm.

Based on the hit movie, Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical is the uplifting adventure of three friends – Tick, Bernadette, Felicia – who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of.

Jason Donovan will reprise the role of Tick, the part he played when the show originally opened in the West End.

As well as Priscilla Queen of the Desert, his other West End credits include the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Making up the lead trio is Richard Grieve and Graham Weaver. Richard Grieve will play Bernadette having previously played the part of Tick in the West End production of the show after Jason Donovan’s departure.

He is probably best known as Jonny Foster in Emmerdale.

Graham Weaver will play Felicia, who he played in the West End production of the show. His other theatre credits include Mary Sunshine in Chicago and Assassins.

Dancefloor favourites featured in the show include It’s Raining Men, Say a Little Prayer, Go West, Hot Stuff and Always on My Mind.
