THE Moscow State Circus is bringing its new spectacular, Babushkin Sekret, to Sunderland.

Inspired by the legend of The 12 Chairs, this new show takes you on a journey in the company of some of the greatest circus performers on the touring circuit.

A mammoth cast of Russia’s finest circus artistes promise to transform the Empire stage into a space where contemporary and classical circus combine.

The newly-devised show includes the queen of Russian circus, Yana Alievia; the whirlwind Rubsovs troupe, who acrobatically catapult themselves at breakneck speed; the Doktorov who fly and spiral in the apex of the auditorium alongside the flying Veslovski, an amazing roller skating troupe.

Highlights are also set to include twisted contortionist Katia, the Yakovles jugglers on vertical poles and the quick change of duo Shmandrpvskoys.

If all this isn’t enough to keep you sat on the edge of your seat, then the award-winning clowns, Pavlik and Klava promise to have you falling off it with laughter.

The Moscow State Circus comes to the Sunderland Empire on Wednesday, January 23.

Tickets priced £15-£31 are available from the box office by calling 0844 871 3022 and online at
