The line-up for Sunderland Empire’s panto this Christmas has become clearer after two names were added to the bill.

Children’s presenter Derek Moran, from Channel 5’s Milkshake!, and North East panto favourite Ian Good will both appear in Aladdin, which is on at the High Street West venue between December 11 and January 3.

Derek, who also recently directed and choreographed national theatre tour ‘Milkshake Live – Party Party’, and has also performed on the likes of Top of the Pops, This Morning and the Late Late Show, will play Wishee Washee.

He was one of the members of pop group D-Side, who had three top 10 singles in the UK, as well as a No1 album in the Japanese charts.

Ian, meanwhile, has 30 years of panto experience behind him, and has worked across the UK, Europe and Australia as a director and actor. He will play Widow Twankey.

He is also an accomplished director who this year directed Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro on their national tour, while he also directed the likes of Michael Ball, Les Dennis and Brian Conley in the UK Tour of Hairspray the Musical. Perhaps Ian’s most memorable role was as Brenda in the Bounty and Plenty kitchen roll advertisements, which were screened on TV for nine years.The pair will join This Morning presenter Alison Hammond, who will play Slave of the Ring, and Coronation Street’s Terence Maynard, who will appear as Abanazar.

A British Sign Language performance will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, December 30, with the relaxed performance held at the same time on Saturday, January 2.
