Theatre company Wildworks is on the hunt for Wearsiders to volunteer for a choir and performance ensemble to help them create a culture event entitled A Great Night Out.

Taking place at The Point, in Park Lane, on Sunday May 1, it promises to be a lively night of music and stories which celebrate the city’s proud heritage.

Anyone interested in being part of the event is invited to a performance workshop at the National Glass Centre tomorrow.

Performance director Kyla Goodey explained: “It’s going to be a spectacular night, full of music, stories, laughter and tears. There’ll be a few surprises and some great performances.

“The audience will be thoroughly entertained by local performers who will celebrate the city’s proud heritage through tales and songs.

“We still have places for more local volunteers to get involved, and we’d love as many people as possible to come along to our performance workshop at the National Glass Centre this Saturday.”

The workshop will start in the National Glass Centre’s Riverside A room at 10am tomorrow, and will last until 1pm. To perform in the show, you will need to be available for the performance weekend of Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, and for a number of rehearsals leading up to the weekend.

A Great Night Out is being produced by WildWorks on behalf of the Cultural Spring, an Arts Council-funded initiative.

Tickets for A Great Night Out are priced at £5 from 454 1234 or from The Point’s box office.
