IF Saturday night was anything to go by, this year’s Split is going to be all kinds of awesome.

We went along to the Split Parade, a warm-up for the main festival, which saw Holmeside venues come alive to the sounds of locally-produced tunes.

Feathered minstrels B>E>A>K led the parade in their own inimitable style, bringing traffic to a standstill.

A host of acts then performed intimate sets at Plugged Inn and Independent to warm crowds up for Split, which begins tomorrow at Ashbrooke Sports Ground.

Highlights included a stripped-back set from The Railway Club and a rousing acoustic performance from Futureheads frontman Barry Hyde.

Giggles were provided by Split comic Steffen Peddie.
