THAT That fever has hit Sunderland.
With the band kicking-off their Progress Live 2011 tour at the Stadium of Light this weekend, pubs and clubs across the city have decided to join in the celebrations – as thousands of people are expected to arrive in the city.
Wylam Leisure Group bosses, who own venues such as the Glass Spider, Ttonic and Paddy Whacks, are pulling out all the stops and will play host to an array of live entertainment, such as Take That tribute acts.
On May 27, 28, 30 and 31, there will be pre-performance and post-performance entertainment at Glass Spider and Ttonic.
At Paddy Whacks, there will be acoustic covers of Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams songs.
Séamus Wheelan, entertainments manager at Paddy Whacks, said: “At Paddy Whacks we will be adding to our customary offering of quality weekend live bands as usual each evening at 9.30pm, with acoustic artist sets covering mainly Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams-penned songs on Friday, Saturday and bank holiday Monday afternoons from 2-5pm.
“We will also have a Take That Special Karaoke Night on Monday at 9.30pm.
“Our sister and adjoining bar Glass Spider are staging tribute band Envy, paying homage to Take That on Friday and Monday afternoon, while Ttonic, with the official opening of its spectacular new beer garden, will offer special meal deals and a celebratory BBQ for hungry visitors.”
There will also be special drinks promotions in all three of the bars.
Séamus added: “We look forward to contributing to the excitement of a great weekend of entertainment and true Mackem hospitality in the city!”
