Indie-rockers Maximo Park play a big hometown gig this weekend - and you could be there for free.
The band, famous for their high-octane live shows, are headlining the final night of the epic Newcastle Weekender in Times Square on Sunday.
Support comes from electro-rock duo Public Service Broadcasting, reformed '90s indie stalwarts Lush, indie-pop band Teleman, Brighton outfit Fear of Men and acclaimed Newcastle electronic collective Warm Digits.
It promises to be a great climax to a weekend of shows which sees superstar DJ Fatboy Slim play in Times Square on Friday, and Ocean Colour Scene, supported by Shed Seven, on Saturday.
Maximo Park, led by charismatic Billingham-born frontman Paul Smith, can't wait to return to their native North East, and promise to deliver one of their most memorable performances yet in front of a home crowd.
"It's been a dream of ours to headline a big outdoor gig in the heart of Newcastle city centre and now, after celebrating our 10th-anniversary last year, we get to fulfil that ambition at the height of summer, on home turf,” he said.
“I hope there will be a celebratory atmosphere on Times Square because there are some excellent bands on the bill, and we intend to put on a great show."
