UP and coming North East artists are being urged to apply for a place in a talent showcase which is gaining a reputation for spotting stars.
Evolution Emerging, which takes place across the best venues in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley, is looking for emerging artists to play this year’s event.
It is on Saturday, May 23, and 40 emerging artists will have the chance to play alongside special guest headliners and artists unearthed through the innovative Tipping Point blog, run by music development agency Generator.
Evolution Emerging grows each year and has firmly established itself as the region’s biggest event for promoting new music.
Last year’s headliners included Sunderland’s The Lake Poets, who are recording their debut album in Nashville with Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, as well as South Tyneside’s Boy Jumps Ship, who have toured across Germany and supported Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic.
Last year’s sold-out event also gave a platform to rising stars such as Gallery Circus, Sam Fender, Dalaro and Immy Williams who performed to many of the 1,500 music fans who descended on the venues.
Bob Allan, artist development manager at Generator, said: “We’re really proud to be in our seventh year of Evolution Emerging, and with our 2014 event selling out, it proves people have an appetite to discover the next big thing.
“Also, Generator’s ability to programme the best emerging talent in the region and beyond has provided a fantastic platform for new acts to follow in the footsteps of Lulu James, Mausi, Beth Jeans Houghton, The Lake Poets, Nadine Shah, Lisbon, We Are Knuckle Dragger and Boy Jumps Ship.”
To apply, artists should complete the two-stage application HEREby the deadline of 11.59pm on February 6.
