Tribes go on the warpath

Have your say

ROCK ‘n’ Rollers Tribes will be hitting Sunderland’s Independent on May 21.

Speaking about the four-piece’s sound, lead singer Johnny Lloyd said: “When you’re a kid you want to be cool, so you make experimental weird music. But for us, I think there just came a point where we couldn’t be bothered messing around any more.

“I realised that there’s no point being in a band if you’re not going to be one of those life-changing bands. Not the one’s you stroke your chin too, the one’s you beat your heart plate to.”

The band’s debut EP, We Were Children, which has already been backed by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, is released on June 6.

l Tribes play The Little Room at Independent on May 21. Tickets are priced at £4 and are available from, Hot Rats in Sunderland or RPM in Newcastle.
