TRAFFIC restrictions will be in place across the city this week as more than 85,000 gig-goers make their way to the Stadium of Light.
Superstar Rihanna will take to the stage on Thursday.
North East Live will see a host of pop acts, including JLS and The Wanted, perform on Saturday.
Traffic restrictions will be in place on a number of roads, particularly in and around Millennium Way, which extends along the south side of the Stadium of Light and Sheepfolds Industrial Estate.
Peak travel times on concert days are anticipated to be between 4pm to 7pm, and 11pm onwards. The entire Sheepfolds Industrial Estate to the south of the stadium will be subject to tight traffic restrictions on concert days with roads completely closed to the public and non-emergency vehicles.
Drivers are also advised that two of the three northbound lanes on the Wearmouth Bridge will be closed between 10pm and 1am on all concert evenings to protect pedestrians.
For the North East Live concert, where a large number of young people are expected to be in attendance, a special family meeting point will also be in operation, next to St Peter’s Metro station.
