Next week there will be a chance to see one of Sunderland’s top musicians up close.
The Stranglers frontman Baz Warne, who still calls the city home, will be hosting a buskers evening at The Smugglers, Marine Walk, Roker, on September 6.
With a career spanning four decades, The Stranglers are one of the most continuously successful bands to have emerged from the UK punk rock scene. Their hits include Golden Brown, No More Heroes, Peaches and Always the Sun.
Baz, who took over as frontman in 2000, said: “I haven’t done one of these for ages and it’s a rare opportunity for me to see if I’ve still got it!
“I used to do this many moons ago down there and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Baz is more used to playing some of the country’s top festival stages with The Stranglers including Glastonbury, V Festival and T in the Park.
Last year they embarked on a 40th anniversary tour.
The buskers night starts at 8pm, all players welcome.
