SUNDERLAND favourites The Futureheads are headlining at a major North West music festival.

The four-piece, who shot to fame with single Hounds of Love, will take to the stage at the Cloud 9 festival in Cheshire.

Also on bill are The Answering Machine, The Sunshine Underground, Too Young to Love, Rotating Leslie and Cassette Jam.

Founded by local resident Martin Wheelton and his team two years ago, it’s a homegrown event built on live music, dance DJs with good old-fashioned guitar-strumming and drum-bashing.

Now in its third year, the community festival has a capacity of 5,000.

One of the festival’s organisers Hannah Cox, said: “Cloud 9 has been growing year on year and we wanted to extend the fun to the entire community this year by ensuring it was an all ages event.

“With a hugely eclectic mix of music and activities we have ensured to keep ticket costs low so that as many people in the local area and come and enjoy everything we have to offer.”

Gates open at 9am from Saturday August 6. Weekend tickets are £27.50. Visit
