SUNDERLAND-born singer Dan Sailor will be launching his album on his home stage tomorrow.

To signal the start of his mini UK tour, Dan will launch his album at Independent in Holmeside.

Compared to Jake Bugg, Dan, who pens his own music, has spent the last year honing his own folk and rock-influenced sound.

He said: “I couldn’t wish for a better place to hold my album launch than Sunderland, I have heard a few people describe it as the new

Manchester! I know a lot of talent has been born in Sunderland and I feel privileged to be a Mackem. The support I have had from local musicians and the music scene itself has been wonderful.”

Having begun his musical journey as a guitarist in a band called Stick n Poke, Dan made the bold decision to follow his ambition of becoming a solo artist in his own right.

Dan added: “I like to listen to a lot of blues music from the 1920s to the 1940s – this is what inspires me and influences my own sound. But I do not want to copy anyone. I am just here to make good music and what is the point in making music if people don’t hear it?

“On the night I will have support from some amazing local musicians, Dec and Wayne, and Megan Dotchin. I am a big fan of Megan as she has very similar influences to me.” is a four-piece band renowned for their own fresh musical style that encompasses rap, hip-hop/ dubstep and drum &bass along with Sunderland duo Dec & Wayne.

Middlesbrough-born musician Megan Dotchin is also set to bring her own authentic sound with a modern twist to the album launch.

She said: “I can’t wait to play at Independent.

“I have never played in Sunderland before so this will be a great opportunity for me to expand my audience.

“It’s a class line-up with something for everyone. It’s also great to be supporting Dan who is passionate about the same sort of music as

I am.”
