A CELEBRATED jazz singer is coming to The Customs House this month.

Sarah Ellen Hughes, despite still being in her 20s, is earning a superb reputation on the UK jazz scene.

She will perform in the South Shields venue’s Daltons room on Friday, October 21.

She gained International recognition when she won the 2010 International Jazz Singing Competition “Jazz Voices.”

In this intimate show she will perform songs from her new album The Story So Far, popular classics from Gershwin, Burt Bacharach and Jimi Hendrix, along with exciting arrangements of some of Sarah’s own compositions.

Supporting her will be a superb trio featuring the cream of London’s jazz talent.

Customs House executive director, Ray Spencer, MBE, said: “I am delighted to welcome a hugely-talented performer to The Customs House for what should be a fantastic night of jazz from a future superstar of the genre.”
