AWARD-WINNING pop star Paolo Nutini will take to the stage at the Sunderland Empire in a summer of music for the city.
The Scottish singer-songwriter will perform in June – the same month that Take That, Kings of Leon and The Stranglers will entertain at city venues.
Famed for his soulful sound, Paolo has announced the Sunderland gig on June 4 as a warm-up for his appearance at Scotland’s RockNess festival later that month.
Last year, Paolo – whose hits include New Shoes, Jenny Don’t Be Hasty and Last Request – received the UK music industry’s highest acclaim, the Ivor Novello award for Best Album. He also picked up the Q Best Male accolade at the highly prestigious Q Music Awards.
June will see music fans spoilt for choice in the city with Take That and Kings Of Leon playing the Stadium of Light and punk legends The Stranglers headlining the Skinny Twins Festival at Rainton Meadow Arena.
l Tickets for Paolo Nutini, priced £28.50, go on sale from 9am on Friday from 0844 871 3022 and www.SunderlandEmpire.org.uk.
