FOLK pop act Pale Seas play Independent’s Little Room on Saturday.

The Southampton four-piece are fronted by Jacob Scott, whose scarred tones recall that of U.S. punk folk singer Elliot Smith at his fragile, endearing best.

The band have drawn comparisons with dream pop duo Beach House after their double-A side, Something or Nothing/Amour, was released at the turn of the year.

Their recent single was recorded with heavy-hitting production duo Jimmy Robertson and Demian Castellanos, who have done tracks for The Big Pink and Florence and the Machine.

As such, they’ve been hailed as one of the most exciting folk acts to emerge from the UK this year.

Tickets are priced £5 (subject to booking fee) and are available from and in person from Hot Rats, in Stockton Road, Sunderland.
