Moonrunners ready to take centre stage

Have your say

A band who’ve supported McFly, Bow Wow Wow, Shaun Ryder and more, are stepping out from the shadows to release their debut EP.

Moonrunners, who met at Sunderland University, have been making waves in the music industry for a while after being voted the UK’s Student Band of the Year in 2012.

Now the five-piece indie-rock-pop band – made up of Jordan Deehan on vocals, Nathan Hughes on guitar, Kyle Sykes on guitar, Owen Morgan on bass and John Timney on drums – are hoping that a recent signing to Glasgow-based Twin City Records will propel them further.

The new label has former ties to Electric Honey, the people who started the careers of Belle and Sebastian, Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro.

Moonrunners’ two-track EP was recorded at White Air Studios in Gateshead.
