EXPERIENCE the haunting sound of Trio Mediaeval’s pure voices joined with Arve Henriksen’s hushed trumpet and live electronics, when the perform at Sage Gateshead this month.

Trio Mediaeval’s first UK tour brings together the atmospheric sound of these three female voices with Henriksen’s trumpet and electronics to perform early and contemporary, classical, folk and improvised music.

Grammy Award nominees Trio Mediaeval have garnered a following for themselves in the U.S. and Europe for entwining performances of mediaeval sacred music with traditional Norwegian folk and the work of contemporary composers like Gavin Bryars.

Arve Henriksen is one of Norway’s most widely acclaimed musicians whose music stretches across jazz, contemporary and folk.

The collaboration between Trio Mediaeval and Arve Henriksen started in 2007 at the Bergen International Festival where the trio were artists in residence, and since then they have performed together on several occasions.

The music presented on this tour is a mix of Norwegian folk, mediaeval, commissioned-contemporary music and fragments of improvisation.
