Pop Recs predicts a riot with its next auction lot.
Kaiser Chiefs fans can get their hands on the SAFC strip given to the band when they played Stadium of Light in support of the Foo Fighters this summer.
Signed by the five-piece, the one-off strip bearing the band’s name, will return to the city to help the new Pop Recs Ltd to get off the ground.
The record shop and culture hub is auctioning off a series of music merchandise on eBay to help pay for the running costs of the venue, which will open in its new home in Stockton Road this month.
The Kaiser Chiefs donated the strip personally after hearing about Pop Recs’ drive to bring more live music to the heart of Sunderland.
It follows the first lot in the series, a T-shirt worn by James Bay in his latest video, which managed to raise hundreds of pounds.
The auction money will be added to the £14,000 donated by the public via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
Dave Harper, who runs Pop Recs with fellow Frankie and the Heartstrings band member Michael McKnight, said: “This item is particularly great because it combines SAFC with music.
“It’s a great piece for a Kaiser Chiefs fan and is one in a series of music lots we’ll be auctioning off.”
Pop Recs announced this week it will open on November 14 with a gig by punk folk singer Frank Turner, tickets for which go on sale on Friday.
