Have your say

ASPIRING writers are putting pen to paper to have their say on one of the summer’s biggest music events.

Scores of young people are being asked to submit a speculative review of North East Live to be in with a chance of winning tickets to attend.

To enter the competition, students from the region’s secondary schools, colleges and universities are being asked to enter a short, mock-up review of the day-long concert which will feature acts including Jason Derulo, Jessie J and The Vamps.

Three lucky winners will be chosen – one from a secondary school, one from a college, and one from a university – and each will receive four VIP tickets to the concert, as well as the chance to write a review of the event for Sunderland AFC’s official website, The secondary school winner will also receive four additional VIP tickets for their school for North East Live 2014, which will take place at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, June 22.

Gary Hutchinson, commercial director of SAFC, said: “The feedback we received from North East Live 2013 was fantastic and this year we wanted to give young people the chance to showcase their reviewing skills in more of a formal fashion.

“We’re looking forward to reading all of the entries and, ultimately, giving the lucky winners a chance to report like a real journalist at North East Live 2014 with our compliments.”

All education establishments who submit reviews on behalf of their students will receive entry into a separate draw to win tickets, which can be used for fund-raising opportunities, or as student incentives.

Entries for the competition should be submitted to, in person at Black Cat House, or by post to Schools North East Live Competition, Sunderland AFC, Stadium of Light, Sunderland SR5 1SU by no later than Friday May2.
