FRESH from playing their hometown, Frankie & the Heartstrings have announced a gig across the Tyne.

The Mackem five-piece will play Cluny 2 in Newcastle, on Sunday, March 10, from 7.30pm along with special guests.

Staging the gig under their home-made label Pop Sex Ltd, the band have dubbed the night “a recession busting, right old Northern knees-up.”

Punters will be charged just £3 for the gig which will also feature a meat draw, courtesy of Oldfields in Durham, domino card, a tombola and a DJ who takes requests. Dave Harper, Pop Sex Ltd spokesman and Frankie & the Heartstrings drummer, said: “In a very deliberate attempt to shame bands, and you know who you are, into addressing their open-hand approach to entertaining people, here it is, an affordable, guilt free, sexy-entertainment extravaganza.

“Just because you convince yourself you’re worth whatever you feel like charging, doesn’t mean you are.”
