The man responsible for the safety of concert-goers at the Stadium of Light has praised Foo Fighters fans for their behaviour.
Almost 50,000 concert-goers flocked to the home of Sunderland AFC and were wowed by a stunning two-and-a-half hour high energy set, as the US rock gods kicked off the UK leg of their Sonic Highways tour.
Sunderland AFC’s head of safety Paul Weir said: “Robust planning by all the key agencies, combined with the cooperation of the thousands of people in attendance, made the evening run very smoothly.
“A huge amount of work goes into the planning of these events, so it is really pleasing when that work comes to fruition and everyone enjoys the concert.
“The safety of everyone attending the show is always our priority, and whilst the crowd was very enthusiastic and energetic, they behaved very well and I must give them credit for that.”
