Evolution evolving

Have your say

NEXT weekend, thousands will descend on the banks of the River Tyne for one of the highlights of the North East music calendar.

And you could be there for free.

We’ve teamed up with the organisers of the Evolution Festival to give away three pairs of weekend tickets.

Taking place on June 3 and 4 along Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside, this year’s Evo will include headline turns from Dizzee Rascal, Deadmau5, Maximo Park and Noah & The Whale.

Evolution attracts 28,000 people per day to the Quayside, with irrepressible chart-topper Dizzee Rascal headlining the main stage on the Sunday with a sack load of hits including Dance Wiv Me, Bonkers, Holiday and Dirtee Disco.

Famed for his notorious live shows, the mighty Deadmau5 brings the biggest production ever to Evolution with his audio visual spectacular.

Local talent will be provided by Maximo Park in support of Dizzee with East Herrington musician Martin Longstaff, aka The Lake Poets, also performing.

Rizzle Kicks too are set to shine. The duo have been the undisputed breakout act of the past six months seemingly coming from nowhere to top radio playlists and the charts. With artists such as Devlin, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Band Of Skulls, Spector and Jessie Ware amongst other confirmations on the main stage, Evolution 2012’s line-up looks set to be the best yet.

The Ballast Hills stage this year will be home to some of the most pioneering electronic music with an eclectic bill across both days.

DJ sets from DJ Fresh, SBTRKT, Jack Beats, Toddla T, Maya Jane Coles and a live set from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs are certain to have the Evolution crowd partying into the night.

l Tickets are £25 for a day or £35 for the weekend from www.evolutionfestival.co.uk
