AFRICAN rhythms are set to rock the region.
Soweto Gospel Choir are gearing up to take to the stage at Sage Gateshead as part of their African Grace tour.
Songs performed will be a mixture of traditional and contemporary African and will include the Mirriam Makeba classic Pata Pata, as well as popular international songs such as Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Many Rivers to Cross.
Coupled with the group’s energetic dance moves and foot-stomping drumming, the show is set to be a kaleidoscope of colour.
Through vibrant rhythm, movement and its renowned vocal harmonies, Soweto Gospel Choir’s inimitable performance style has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Since its foundation in 2002, the choir has performed to sell-out crowds at the greatest concert halls across the globe and alongside superstars including Bono, Queen, Celine Dion, John Legend, Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder.
The 24-strong group will perform at Sage Gateshead on October 3. Tickets are from £27. Tel. 443 4661.
