The Diamonds singer will return to the Stadium of Light next year - and she's bringing two superstar support acts with her.
But if you don't know much about The Weeknd and rapper Big Sean, you have more than six months to learn some lyrics and get ready for the big night.
You will definitely have heard some of The Weeknd's chart-busting tunes - maybe without even knowing it. His second album Beauty Behind The Madness reached No1 in the UK chart, with songs Earned It, from the Fifty Shade of Grey sound track, I Can't Feel My Face and The Hills all reaching high positions too.
The album has this month been awarded the accolade of "most streamed album of 2015" - and also placed highly in Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2015 list at number five.
He has previously opened for Drake, Justin Timberlake and Florence and the Machine; so Rihanna fans should expect big things from his slot at the Stadium of Light in June.
If you're a fan of Cassie, Frank Ocean and Trey Songz you'll definitely be feeling his vibe.
Big Sean is lesser known in the UK than in the US - but there's no denying he is a big name, and a huge booking for the city.
The rapper, known for collaborations with Ariana Grande (on Problem), Kanye West and Calvin Harris, has made his own mark overseas and delighted crowds with a UK tour earlier this year.
His most recent album, Dark Sky Paradise, earned him his first No1 in the Billboard 200. This rapper will be a treat to the ears for lovers of Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and A$AP Rocky.
The support acts will make sure that Rihanna's appearance at the stadium is one of the North East's music events of the year - and there are still tickets available.
