WTHIS is album No 2 by the London-based folk band who are clearly influenced by the likes of The Pogues, and it’s more of the same after their enjoyable 2012 debut Forge & Flagon.
Based around brother and sister Max and Lorna Thomas, it’s a splendid slice of goodtime music, with plenty of upbeat, anthemic songs like Raise A Wreck, Trouble On Oxford Street and This Is War.
There also a handful of slower numbers like the lovely, lilting What Can I Say?, Bonny Away, and The Dreich, which showcase Lorna’s beguiling voice.
It’s a good album, but they’re best experienced live. 7/10. GW
