Taking place from 2pm to 4.30pm, the event will feature DJ Mudfoot Blaps and another guest DJ with a mash up of family-friendly festive tunes.

The family rave includes a multi-sensory dance floor with club visuals, bubble machines, glitter cannons, balloons and a giant parachute dance.

There is a play area with tents and tunnels, a safe-space for babies with a ball pool and soft mats, alongside a themed craft area with a colouring mural and a play dough table.

Ruth Lee, who runs BFLF in the North East, said: “The response to our Halloween event has been amazing. We sold out over four weeks in advance of the event and I’m so pleased to announce that we are hosting a Christmas special too.

“This will be the first Christmas special we’ve held in the North East, I’m really excited and over the moon we are bringing it to the Bonded Warehouse, Sunderland.

“I can’t wait to see our family ravers back on the dancefloor having fun together.

“Since launching in the North East in 2016 we’ve had an amazing response and we now run regular events in Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

“It’s a brilliant way to spend your afternoon with the whole family because there is a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. I love seeing families return time and time again to our events, it makes me very proud to be part of the BFLF family.”

Big Fish Little Fish was set up in 2013 by Hannah Saunders in Brixton, London, and has inspired events around the country.

“Hannah is an oldskool raver, big festival goer, clubber and has young children” says Ruth.

“She was going to baby groups and finding them a little boring and entirely child focused – whereas at festivals her entire family were having a wonderful time – so she decided to set something up for families that both the grown-ups and the kids could enjoy together.”

* Sound levels are checked at the family rave to make sure they are safe for the ears of the young people who will be in the audience.
