Winter is coming to Wearside as Game of Thrones stars get ready to sword-fight at the Stadium of Light.
Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn in the cult series, will be one of the guest stars at the Kingcon comic convention taking place at the home of the Black Cats on October 22 and 23.
The actor, who was once one half of pop duo Robson and Jerome, will be joined at the convention by Britain’s tallest man Neil Fingleton who played a giant in Game of Thrones.
Meanwhile, Miltos Yerolemou, who found fame as the fan favourite sword trainer from the hit show, will be hosting sword-fighting training at the event.
Highlights will also include a rare UK appearance by Charles Martinet, who has been voicing computer game characters including Mario and his brother Luigi for more than 20 years.
Star Wars actor Gerald Home, who voiced Tessek-Squid Head and the Mon Calamari Officer Captain Verrack in Return of the Jedi, as well as the original Mr Muscle from the television adverts will also be in attendance.
The event aims to offer more than the average comic convention and will feature activities including science workshops and talks, escape rooms, crime scene investigation activities, talks on the gaming and film industry, live gaming development experiences, concept art and design, vibrant cosplayers (costumers), a giant dinosaur and the Jurassic Park vehicle, technology experiences and more.
Organiser Dan Pye, from Dark Matter Cafe and Events, said: “Dark Matter Café and Events has had an incredible three years and since we began the conventions we have always carried a strong message. The chance to discover new things, meet new people and create an amazing atmosphere are the three core principles which base the foundations of our business.
“This year’s Kingcon is focused heavily on inspiring future generations to seek careers in science, technology and media and we do this with new and exciting partnerships with great brands from across the region and country.”
Around 6,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event.
