RAIL bosses are hoping to get a Sunderland artist’s career on track.
Grand Central Rail, which runs a service from Sunderland to London, is launching a search for its first ever student artist and is calling on city people to enter.
The train operator is calling for budding artists to submit their designs using the theme ‘Direct to London’.
The winner receive a year of free train travel on Grand Central services, and their artwork will be featured on new Grand Central bags for life.
Sean English, general manager at Grand Central, said: “At Grand Central we have a tradition of supporting local artists and art establishments and we know that there is a lot of great emerging talent in the North East.
“We are committed to the communities we serve and with a number of universities and colleges based along our routes, we wanted to give something back to our regular student travellers with this competition.”
Entrants should visit grandcentralrail.com/special-offers/student-artist-competition for more details. The competition closes on October 31.
The winner will be announced in November.
