Sunderland shoppers can look out for an unexpected visitor to the city next week – a dinosaur!
To mark the cinema opening of new Hollywood blockbuster Jurassic World on Thursday, June 11, Tiny the Stegosaurus, a 3.5-metre-long, part animatronic creature, will be in the Bridges shopping centre.
Tiny will be interacting with shoppers as part of a number of 20-minute natural history shows which will take place at 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
The dinosaur visit is part of a programme of activities organised by Sunderland’s Business Improvement District on Thursday evenings to highlight the city’s after-hours retail and leisure offer.
“Shoppers in Sunderland are definitely going to get more than they bargained for,” said Ken Dunbar, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID.
“The nearest most people are going to get to a dinosaur is watching them on the big screen when Jurassic World opens.
“We’ve gone one step further and brought one of our own right into the city.”
