SHOULD a new venue be your first port of call for city centre comedy?

Port of Call, in Park Lane, thinks so as it plays host to a rib-tickling night with comedy club Hilarity Bites.

It takes places on February 6, in the venue’s newly-opened top floor.

Not only can you and a friend be there for free – we’ve also teamed up with the bar to give away a meal for two on the night.

Comedy on the evening will be provided by Duncan Oakley and Carl Hutchinson with MC Andy Fury.

As heard on BBC Radio 4’s “Shappi Talk”, Duncan is an art school dropout and songwriter who has performed live since he was fifteen and then joined the comedy circuit in 1999. Duncan performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up with one of his trusty guitars.

A talented all-round musician, Duncan can also perform with harmonica, drums and piano as a one man musical whirlwind, and is a regular at the biggest comedy clubs around the UK and also all of the biggest music festivals.

Carl is a multi-award winning comedian who’s won the Beat The Frog World Series and Magners Comedian of the year awards in 2007.

He’s also a Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Nominee and So You Think You’re Funny Finalist, was seen on ITV’s FHM Comedy Hero and performed at the highly respected Big Value Comedy Showcase in Edinburgh in 2011.

Carl supported former three-time wrestling heavyweight champion and bestselling author Mick Foley on both of his UK Comedy Tours; in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Carl then supported Chris Ramsey on the last leg of his Offermation tour in 2012, and performed his first solo hour at the 2012 Edinburgh festival where it was shortlisted in the Amused Moose
Awards.

Carl returned to the Edinburgh Fringe with his second and third solo tours in 2013 and 2014, before heading out on a tour of large theatres alongside Chris Ramsey, which continues into 2015.

MC on the night, Andy Fury, only started comedy a few years ago out of boredom but has gone on to impress crowds with his mix of self-deprecating dark jokes and off the wall surrealism.

He won the Hilarity Bites New Act Of The Year 2010 title and is on the path to working at many of the best clubs in the country.
