TIME is running out for Wearside film-makers to hit the silver screen.

Entries for the Sunderland Shorts Film Festival have flooded in from as far afield as Australia, Korea and Iran, but there’s still time for you to submit a film or volunteer to be part of the inaugural festival.

Submissions will close on Thursday for the event, which takes place across the city from July 2-5.

It’s a collaboration with the prestigious DC Shorts Film Festival, in Washington DC, and film-makers will have the chance for their work to be screened across the pond later in the year.

Rebecca Burdon, festival manager for Sunderland Shorts Film Festival, said: “We’ve had submissions from more than 26 countries so far.

“It’s been great to see that so many talented film-makers want to be part of our festival – especially since we’re in our first year. With submissions set to close later this month, we’re still on the look-out for more great shorts – particularly from around the region, as we’re really hoping to have a strong North East presence at the festival.”
