A flavour of Bollywood came to the Town Moor stage as part of the Tall Ships Races’ rich and varied entertainment programme.
OMG Music production company teamed up with Funky Indian restaurant for the show which featured traditional Indian dancing, such as a Giddha performance from members of Sunderland Sikh Association, as well as more modern Bhangra mixes of tracks.
The hour-long show came to a lively close with a performance from the Punjabi Doctors who are GPs and consultants by day and Bhangra dancers by night.
One of the troupe, Kamal Sidhu said: “It was great to see the audience joining in towards the end of the show and see some supportive faces in the crowd. The dance we performed is a very creative dance with a lot of energy that symbolises happiness.
“It’s a traditionally male dance which is about selling crops after the harvest and then celebrating in style.”
If you missed the Bollywood show at Tall Ships you can catch them on the Friday night launch concert at Sunderland International Airshow.
