What is included?

Sony had managed to keep its choices close to its chest, with no sign of the confirmed titles leaking ahead of time meaning fans could only speculate as to what would be on offer in October.

But on 30 September, the gaming giant finally revealed what was coming.

The free games for October 2020 will be Need for Speed Payback and Vampyr.

Need for Speed Payback is a racing game – the twenty-third instalment in the Need for Speed series – focused on "action driving", with three playable characters with different sets of skills working together to pull off action movie like sequences.

Vampyr will make for perfect Halloween night gaming. It’s an action RPG that tells the story Jonathan Reid, a doctor turned into a vampire who is torn between the Hippocratic Oath and his newfound bloodthirsty nature.

When will October's games be available?

October’s games will be available to download from 6 October.

That means subscribers have until that date to claim the games that are currently on offer as part of September’s promotion.

Those games are Battle Royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and arcade fighting game Street Fighter V.

How do I get PlayStation Plus?

As mentioned, you’ll need to be a subscriber to the PlayStation Plus service to get your hands on the ‘free’ games.

PlayStation Plus costs £6.99 for one month, £19.99 for three, or £49.99 for a year's worth of subscription.

However, you can shop around and find deals and offers that make considerable cuts to those asking prices.

For example, ShopTo is currently selling a 12-month PlayStation Plus membership for just £39.85, a saving of 20%.
