The National Trust Gibside offers more than 600 acres of woodland and countryside, complete with a tree-lined avenue, Neo-classical Chapel and orangery sitting amongst the designed landscape.

But Ignite at Gibside is set to make the great outdoors even more magical.

A rare example of an eighteenth-century landscape garden is the incredible setting for Gibside, near Rowlands Gill, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.

It was created with spectacular views in mind. The vision of coal magnate George Bowes and once a pleasure ground for the Georgian elite, Gibside can now be enjoyed by everyone.

A tree-lined avenue, Palladian Chapel and orangery sit among pockets of peaceful woodland. The grand ruin of Gibside Hall offers a glimpse into the dramatic story of heiress Mary Eleanor Bowes.

Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life within 243 hectares (600 acres) of gardens, woodland and countryside – perfect for getting back to nature and spotting wildlife including otters and red kites.

Ignite trails are brought by leading promoter Raymond Gubbay Limited, a division of Sony Music and hosted by the National Trust.

The trail is created by Culture Creative - a creative project and production management company based in Scotland and the North East of England, which has worked closely with Raymond Gubbay to create Christmas themed trails across the UK and overseas, with venues including Blenheim Palace; The National Trust; The Forestry Commission; The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Botanic Gardens, Chicago, USA and Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Melbourne, Australia.

Each trail is designed to showcase the natural and unique environment of the individual location.
