Fortnite is one of the most popular video games in the world, with thousands of young fans pouring hours into the battle royale mode every day.

That means that to lose one’s progress, perhaps to a hacker breaking their way into your account and tinkering with loots and goodies you’ve unlocked, would be a catastrophe.

Thankfully, security measures are in place to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Here’s how to set up Two-Factor Authentication, to protect your account from hacks.

What is 2FA?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security setting which assists Epic Games users in protecting their account from hacking threats.

2FA can be used to help protect your account from unauthorised access by requiring you to enter an additional code when you sign in.

Once you’ve opted into Two-Factor Authentication, you will be asked to enter the code from your preferred two-factor authentication method, then you will be signed into your account.

You will be prompted for the two-factor passcode the first time you sign in after enabling the feature, if you use a new device, if it’s been over 30 days since you last signed in or if you’ve cleared your browser cookies recently.

How do I enable 2FA?

To opt into Two-Factor Authentication, go to your Epic Games Account Settings, and click on the Password & Security tab to view your security settings.

At the bottom of the page, under the Two-Factor Authentication heading, click to Enable Authenticator App of Enable Email Authentification as your two-factor method.

From there you can opt to authenticate your account via email or an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy.
