The takeover was confirmed on Thursday, Louis-Dreyfus confirmed as the new chairman and majority shareholder with Stewart Donald, Charlie Methven and Juan Sartori all maintaining minor shareholdings in the club.

Louis-Dreyfus has been at the last three Sunderland games and confirmation of the takeover deal, once the EFL had completed their checks, has given supporters on Wearside a major boost.

The FPP Sunderland loan has also been settled, while there is the Papa John's Trophy Wembley final to look forward to next month as well.

Sunderland return to League One action on Saturday when they travel to Burton Albion.
