Grigg, who was the subject of interest from a number of League One clubs during the January transfer window, eventually joined his former club MK Dons on loan until the end of the current season.

The 29-year-old has started strongly in his second spell at stadium:mk - scoring once and providing two assists in his first three appearances.

Supporters have delivered a very clear verdict on that topic as part of The Echo’s Big Sunderland AFC Survey – with the vast majority of those who responded feeling that the striker has no future at the club.

Hundreds of fans answered our survey, with 82.4% of those believing that it was time for Grigg to move on permanently.

13.4% were prepared to give the frontman another chance provided he could recapture his best form during the loan spell, while only 4.2% of respondents believe that the striker can definitely have a future at the Stadium of Light.

Grigg, who was a high-profile arrival in the winter of 2019, has scored just eight times in 54 appearances for the Black Cats – and hasn’t netted for the club in a competitive fixture since the 5-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in October 2019.
