Ex-Bayern Munich man Jan Kirchhoff received a staggering 60 per cent of the votes - twice as many as his nearest rival Lamine Kone.
Kirchhoff, who endured a horror debut at White Hart Lane, has since excelled in the holding midfield role for Sam Allardyce's Sunderland side in the ongoing battle against the drop.

Hide AdMacca @SunderlandAFC11: Kirchhoff for sure we all had doubts after his debut but now he's our best midfielder.
Luke Müs @LukeMues: Anyone saying anything other than Kirchhoff should have their season cards revoked
Paul W Wilson @Sunderlandpaul: Kirchhoff for me,
Tom Can't Fly @Tom_With_A_Tee: Think people underestimate the impact Kone has had as well. But it's Kirchoff for me.
Buffalo Tendencies @Paul_Luke Kone: Excellent, Khazri very promising and industrious, but Kirchhoff (for £750,000) is one of our best ever Premier League signings!

Jordan Makaveli Hanson added: "Kone and Kirchhoff."
Meanwhile, Thing Fish wrote on our website: "Arguably the best transfer window for a number of years.
"In the past we have had expectations from our signs and they have transpired to offer little and this occasion we were given little who equally have offered lots. It's s funny old game."
Sampson The Cat added: "I reckon that JK has to be the unanimous choice for most (me included), for after a baptism of fire at WHL (perhaps not entirely his own fault), he's really come good, and in fact been like a "player possessed" at times."

Hide AdBlack and Tan added: "This is a no-brainer, apart from N'Doye, they have all justified themselves and have improved the team .
"Kirchhoff has got to be the choice of the majority of fans, he arrived as a centre back for a paltry £750,000 and no-one was expecting much as he had played very little football in the previous year and suffered a horrendous debut.
"SA took him out of the firing line for a couple of weeks, brought him back in as a defensive midfield player and, so far, he looks a class act and has been the outstanding performer since then.
"He has got to be the Premier League's bargain of the season there's not many better at doing the job he does."
