Silent tribute to former players

Sunderland AFC will once again continue the club's tradition of observing a period of silence at the last home game of each year, in memory of loyal fans and former Sunderland players who have passed away this year.

The club has invited both home and visiting fans to remember those supporters who are no longer with us and also pay tribute to former Sunderland players who have passed away in recent months.

Johnny Spuhler, Albert Snell, Ted Purdon, Ian Porterfield, Barney Bircham, John Eves, William Curzon and Harry Kirtley all died this year.

The period of silence will take place at Saturday's game against Bolton Wanderers, just prior to kick off and supporters are asked to take their seats early in order to ensure that it is observed in the appropriate manner.
