Youngsters quick to show their class

COUNTY finalists Sunderland Under-13s got their season off to a flying start with a 34-0 victory over Stockton.

Sunderland, in their first match on a full pitch, soon had a break that was halted just short.

However, from the resulting clearance, Farai Chickumbrike collected the ball and went on a wonderful, mazy run to open the scoring with an excellent solo try.

Sunderland started to really move through the gears and Michael Holder’s smart delayed pass released Fletcher Jackson to score in the corner.

Sunderland went further ahead after a scintillating burst from Ben Hutchinson took them from one end of the pitch to the other.

The ball went on to Aaron Ditchburn, who scored in the corner.

The Wearsiders added another try as Jackson finished off a determined run to make it 20-0.

In the final quarter, Dean Edmundson took off at great pace to score another try under the posts, with Holder converting.

Rounding things off, a slick passing move found its way to Kye Horn, who finished strongly in the corner under pressure. Hutchinson converted for a 34-0 victory.
