Seaham ready for Redcar battle

Have your say

AFTER a three-week rest, Seaham face a daunting task as they travel to Redcar on Saturday.

The Durham and Northumberland Division Two fixture will ask serious questions of Seaham’s character, particularly taking into account Redcar’s 80-0 victory at the Leisure Centre back in September.

However, if there’s one thing Seaham relish, it’s defying the odds stacked against them.

Undoubtedly, the Mackinlay Park outfit will be keen to return to winning ways following recent defeats away to Bishop Auckland and at home to Ashington.

Selectors hope that the lay-off will have allowed adequate recovery time for all of the injuries and niggles the club was plagued with before the Christmas break.

All available players are advised to meet at Seaham Leisure Centre for noon. A coach will be provided for players and supporters.

H Sunderland start the new year with a home Durham and Northumberland Division One game against Acklam, while Horden host Consett.

H Houghton entertain Chester-le-Street at Dairy Lane in Division Three, while Washington travel to Newton Aycliffe.
